GMS Law make it into the Legal 500 Awards 2017

We are absolutely delighted to confirm that we have made it into the Legal 500 again this year, being recognised in 3 categories, namely Personal Injury - Claimant, Clinical Negligence - Claimant and Professional Negligence.

Richard Clegg, Senior Solicitor, has been listed in the elite "Leading Individuals" list for Personal Injury – Claimant, which is such a fantastic achievement. Richard was celebrated for negotiating the settlement of a claim relating to an injury at work caused by defective equipment. The defendant initially denied liability and disputed that the claimant was injured but an investigation revealed incomplete documentation and inconsistencies in witness statements that led to the matter being settled shortly before trial. The Legal 500 has commended Richard as having ‘incredible depth of knowledge and taking the time to explain everything clearly’ and is ‘there for his clients every step of the way’.

They also congratulate Penny Horne, Senior Solicitor, being praised for her ‘industrious and intelligent approach’ in addition to her ‘profound insight into clinical matters and the spectacular results she achieves’. They note her work whereby she settled a claim against a hospital that failed to adequately manage a client’s labour and did not identify that the foetus was mal-positioned. The patient suffered bladder and bowel damage as a result.

Our Stephanie Mort, Senior Solicitor, who leads the asbestos disease team, is also highly recommended and was complimented for acting in an asbestosis claim against a prison where the claimant’s deceased father was exposed to asbestos while working on site.

As a whole, the Legal 500 state “GMS Law Ltd is a niche firm whose specialist clinical negligence practice ‘punches above its weight in the region’” and “Clients of GMS Law Ltd ‘can’t sing the firm’s praises enough’”.

We are proud and honoured to have achieved these fantastic awards and comments.
